Preview and publish

Check your draft, then put it live.

Your edits save as a draft while you work. Preview shows you that draft as a visitor would see it. Publishing puts it on your live site.

Preview your site#

Select Preview at the top right of the editor, or open the site menu at the top left and choose Preview. Your draft opens in a new tab, including changes you haven't published yet.

Previewing is free and doesn't change your live site. Only you can open the preview, because it requires being signed in to your account.

Publish your site#

  1. Select Publish at the top right of the editor. It's also in the site menu.
  2. Drome saves any pending changes, then publishes every page of your site.
  3. When it's done, you'll see "Site published successfully!"

Your site is then live at its drome.site address, and on your custom domain if you've connected one. Every later change stays in your draft until you publish again.

You need a plan to publish#

Publishing any site, even to its drome.site address, needs an active plan for that site. If the site doesn't have one, selecting Publish opens the Subscribe window instead. After you subscribe, select Publish again. See Plans and pricing.

Building, editing, uploading and previewing don't need a plan.

If publishing fails#

  • "Some changes haven't saved yet, so the site wasn't published." Drome couldn't save your latest edits, so it didn't publish an incomplete version. Wait a moment, then select Publish again.
  • "Publish failed" Something went wrong while publishing. Select Publish again.
  • "This site has been suspended and can't be published." Drome took the site offline, usually because of a report that it breaks the terms of service. You can still open and edit it, but it can't go live. Email support@drome.site if you think this is a mistake.

Things to know#

There's no button to unpublish a site or go back to the last published version. To change what's live, edit your draft and publish again.

Still need help? Email support@drome.site and we’ll get back to you.
