Uploading images, video and 3D

Images and videos you upload go into your site's media library. Once a file is uploaded, you can use it anywhere on that site.

Supported files#

SVG files can't go in the media library. They are accepted only as logos. A 3D widget that takes an SVG stores it with your logos.

Storage per site#

Deleting a file frees its space right away.

Upload to the media library#

1. Click Media library in the left rail.
2. Click the + tile (Upload media).
3. Choose a file. It appears in the library when the upload finishes.

Video optimization#

After you upload a video, Drome makes smaller copies of it for fast playback. Each visitor gets the smallest copy that looks sharp at their screen size. This usually takes under a minute. Your original file stays as you uploaded it.

While it runs, the video's tile shows Optimizing and the video plays as uploaded. When it's done, the badge goes away, and your site switches to the optimized copies without republishing.

If a tile shows Not optimized, hover the badge to see why. The video still works and plays as uploaded. Videos aren't optimized when:

• the file can't be read as a video, or has no video track;
• the video is longer than 10 minutes, or larger than 8K;
• the site has already optimized 100 videos that month.

Upload while placing an image or video#

When you choose an image or video for an element, the Select Image or Select Video window opens. It has two tabs:

• Uploaded Files: everything in your media library, plus an upload button.
• Stock images or Stock videos: free stock media you can use right away.

Files you upload here are added to your media library too.

3D widgets#

Add a section with a 3D widget, such as the 3D widget media section, then click the widget's icon to open the 3D widget library. Pick a widget: 3D logo, 3D text, Image particles or Locations globe. A 3D logo uses an SVG from your logos, and image particles use an image from your media library.

Logos#

Click the logo in your header or footer to open the Logo window. Click Upload a new logo, or pick one you've uploaded before. Logos are kept separately from the media library.

Delete media#

Hover a file in the media library and click the x in its corner.
