How Drome works

Build and preview for free, then subscribe to publish a site.

Drome is a visual website builder. You can build, edit and preview a site for free. You only need a plan when you want to put a site live.

What is free#

Everything up to publishing costs nothing:

  • Creating sites from a starter on /templates.
  • Editing pages, sections, colors, fonts and effects in the editor.
  • Uploading images and video.
  • Previewing your draft in a new tab.

Your draft sites are listed on your dashboard.

What needs a plan#

Publishing a site needs an active plan for that site. This applies to every site, including one that only uses its free .drome.site address.

When you click Publish on a site without a plan, the Subscribe window opens so you can start one. Once the plan is active, publish again to put the site live. See Plans and pricing for what a plan includes.

Plans are per site. A plan on one site does not let you publish a different site.

How a site goes live#

  1. Build your pages in the editor. Changes save automatically as you work.
  2. Click Preview to check the draft in a new tab.
  3. Click Publish. Drome saves any pending changes, then puts the site live.

Your site is served at an address like brave-otter.drome.site. You can change your site URL or connect a custom domain.

Edits you make after publishing stay in your draft until you publish again. For the full flow, see Preview and publish.

When a plan ends#

If a site's plan ends, the site is unpublished automatically. Your draft stays in the editor. Starting a new plan does not republish the site, so publish again when you are ready. See Canceling, reactivating and failed payments.
